What are residential cleaning services?

Residential cleaning services for us take on 2 forms.

1. A regular weekly, fortnightly (or longer period which can be one mth,6 months or yearly) which can last one hr to 8 or nine hrs depending on the time spacing between cleans.

2. A huge one hit spring-clean which will attempt to bring a residence up to a state of cleanliness which can be maintained by the owner/tenant for hopefully another 6 or 12 months until they have that ‘big hit’ clean again.

These types of clean would usually be conducted at a private residence i.e one’s home.

How much is residential cleaning?

These type of cleans are always conducted at a negotiated hourly rate and length of time with a mind to what can be done in the timeframe which has been agreed upon. That cost is set by each company providing the service and is negotiated directly with the customer. If you hire someone who is uninsured pay no tax and uses one cloth for a whole house then perhaps you may be happy with that. Any company ticking all the boxes of requirements to operate a business will charge you more than that type of cleaner and that may vary from $40 to $70 per hr per person.

That may or may not include GST depending on the business income.

I would question anyone who is only charging $25 per hr as to a number of things? Quality and experience of the cleaning and their ability to not damage their property in relation to insurance. Are they paying tax and contributing to society. Obviously if they are earning less than the threshold they do not need to pay tax . Are they reliable? Are they going to turn up every week or fortnight. Can they provide any verifiable references from another customer you can contact if you wanted to know. Do they have any real reviews? Can you communicate with them to get the service you require? All of these considerations should be weighed with the hourly rate.

What is the going rate for residential cleaning?

It would seem if you trawl the internet that will vary wildly from $25 per hr to $70 ( or more). The level of service and the confidence you have in the person who is doing the cleaning should determine what you are prepared to pay as an hourly rate with a view to all the points mentioned in “ how much is residential cleaning?”
